   Felix Kubin   I used to work at a school for children and adults with severe disabilities, a school where painful electric shocks are considered treatment. That experience haunts me every day of my life. Now I'm taking action to make sure the FDA bans the use of electric shock on people with disabilities…

Far too many patients have been prescribed antidepressants, benzodiazepines and other psychiatric drugs, often for many years, much to the detriment of their health without being informed of the immense harm these drugs can cause. Many believed wrongly there was a chemical imbalance in their brain that needed to be corrected. The medical establishment presided over the benzodiazepine medical disaster, failed to learn lessons from it and now we are witnessing an SSRI antidepressant prescribing disaster. Your book will help to raise awareness and I hope it will be widely read.

Francesca Piantedosi   Northampton   Massachusetts       Restraint is supposed to be used as a last resort, in case talking and de-escalation has not worked, and the patient is in danger of hurting themselves or others. A written authorization has to be obtained by a psychiatrist for a restraint to take place. 
Working in a psychiatric hospital, I observed all of these regulations going out the window. One youth used to be put in restraints every day at four, even when he was literally doing nothing but sitting in his room…  The staff involved in the restraint were all laughing during the restraint as if it were a great big hoot for them, because it was. The poor teenager being restraint would spit at them because it was his last line of defense. At that moment, or before he started spitting, they would slip a pillow case over his head. This ordeal was truly frightening to  watch.  When I blew the whistle, they threatened to fire me, trying to find a reason to do so.  Six months later they did fire me.  I didn't really want to work in an environment like that, but refused to quit and make it easy for them. ..  
No visitors and life in a locked ward with a diagnosis of mental illness. 
Their tears fall gently into their pillows, and then the pillows dry. There is no trace of their suffering. VISIT YOUR LOVED ONCE IN A PSYCHIATRIC HOSPITAL.

Frandool MacCionnaith     Now I am recovered by my own hands via coming off all psychotic medications my memory is burned out. I have no memory of such, I can visualise the past through pictures. Often people would pass me and say hello and it would take 10 encounters for me to recognise them at last. Then they understand the glimmer in my eye, Without people your not thing.
